Bravo and Jaysurya helped the Mumbai Indians to a fabulous victory!
Dwayne Bravo (64 not out, 52b, 8x4, 1x6) and Robin Uthappa (37 not out, 37b, 5x4) took the game away from the Knight Riders with a 113-run unfinished fourth-wicket stand as the Mumbai Indians reached 138 for 3 in 18.4 overs to hand the hosts their second defeat in four matches.
Earlier, a disciplined bowling performance from Mumbai Indians saw Kolkata Knight Riders restricted to a score of 137 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Stand-in captain Shaun Pollock triggered the Knight Riders’ collapse picking up two wickets in the first over. Rival skipper Sourav Ganguly, after pulling the bowler for four, guided the next ball into the safe hands of Sanath Jayasuriya at gully. A run later, Brendon McCullum was adjudged leg before by umpire A.V. Jayaprakash, though the ball seemed to be missing leg stump.
All-rounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla's unbeaten 40 off 22 balls and debutant Debabrata Das' 29 off 20 balls ensured a respectable score for the hosts.
Mumbai meanwhile are set to welcome icon Sachin Tendulkar for his first game of the tournament, somewhat off-setting the loss of the suspended Harbhajan Singh for the remainder of the tournament.
